Harry Herbert
Founder, Chairman and Managing Director Highclere Thoroughbred Racing Ltd
Harry established Highclere Thoroughbred Racing in 1992. The company very soon became a leader in the field of racehorse syndication and has been providing owners with an economical way to enjoy racing at the highest level for over three decades. When purchasing yearlings for the syndicate Harry works closely with his brother-in-law, John Warren, who is based at Highclere Stud and was Queen Elizabeth II’s Bloodstock and Racing Advisor.
As managers of The Royal Ascot Racing Club, Highclere Thoroughbred Racing was responsible for Motivator, the winner of the Derby in 2005.
Harry made his start in the bloodstock industry in the United States in the early 1980s when he researched pedigrees for Bloodstock Research Information Systems, a firm that revolutionised data in horse breeding and racing. He later worked for The Matchmaker Group, a business that specialised in bloodstock sales, finance and promotion.
Harry returned to the United Kingdom in 1984 to represent Matchmaker in Europe. He went on to set up HMH Management Ltd, his own thoroughbred management company, offering promotional and advisory services to the bloodstock industry.
In addition to his role at Highclere Racing, Harry is a Director of Newbury Racecourse and a member of The Jockey Club.
