I don’t often post on LinkedIn, but I couldn’t resist wishing a very happy 30th anniversary to Bicester Village! When I first got involved, Bicester was a muddy field in Oxfordshire, and it has been a wonderful experience helping it grow into the purpose-built shopping destination with the highest sales densities in the world. Over the last 30 years we’ve developed some of the most innovative partnerships in the retail industry, invented an entirely new concept for how people shop, worked with Governments of all types, built our own railway station, and created a company that now has 12 shopping villages on 3 continents. In that small corner of Oxfordshire, we now welcome more than 7 million guests every year and provide thousands of local jobs. Here’s to the next 30 years; it’s been a privilege.
